Sustainability
All our haddock is caught from carefully managed sustainable supplies in the deep Atlantic or Barents Sea. We do not sell fish caught in the North Sea or any other area where fish stocks are endangered or depleted.
We only source Haddock from a few select Icelandic Freezer Trawlers – Ogurvik, Eagle, HB Grandi and Thor – and each week we display in the shop exactly where the haddock was caught and by which trawler. Each of the trawlers subscribe to the Icelandic Responsible Fisheries policy, ensuring the fish is caught in a responsible and sustainable way.
If you would like more information on our sourcing of sustainable haddock supplies, visit the Seafish website or ask in the shop for a printed leaflet.
We also have ‘Cape Haddie’ hake on our menu. This fish is from an MSC certified sustainable fishery and caught by the freezer trawler Harvest Lindine, off the coast of southern Africa, where the cold, nutrient-rich Benguela current sweeps up the west coast from the Antarctic.
