Towngate sponsors local theatre group

29 August 2012

Stagecraft Productions have now returned from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Performer Katie Mahon sent us this lovely message to tell us how they got on:

Thank you so much to Towngate Fisheries for supporting and sponsoring a generous £200 to the local drama group I am apart of, in our journey to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We travelled up to Edinburgh in the first week of August and did a show every day for eight days while receiving a four star review from broadway baby. Thank You!:D

Towngate Fisheries are really excited to be sponsoring local theatre group Stagecraft Productions. Their next production, ‘Be My Baby', will be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.

It's 1964, and ‘Be My Baby’ follows the fortunes of Mary Adams, aged 19 and pregnant. Forcibly sent to a mother and baby home, Mary and her fellow inmates have to cope with the shame of their pregnancy and the dawning realisation they must give up their babies for adoption. Despite the daily battles with an overbearing matron, the girls’ effervescence shines through. As they escape into the girl groups’ songs they love, this bittersweet, touching and funny drama unfolds.

Stagecraft Productions are really looking forward to go to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but they still need more help with sponsorship. If you think you can help please call 07870 180165 or email

For more information about 'Be My Baby' follow the production on Twitter.
