Over £450 raised for The Fishermen’s Mission charity
1 June 2024
National Fish & Chip Day this year coincided with the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
While we remember the soldiers who kept the country free, we often forget that fishermen also risked their lives to keep the nation fed during the war (fish and chips were one of the things never rationed, as the government thought they were so important to public morale).
Towngate Fisheries have supported The Fishermen’s Mission charity for many years, often raising money for them on National Fish & Chip Day, so we have decided to donate £1 for every portion of fish we sold on the day to the charity. Adding in what our generous customers have put in our ‘Albert’ collecting tin in the last few months the total donation made is £458.
This takes the total we have raised for The Fishermen’s Mission charity to over £12,000 since 2005.
