Winners of two National Fish and Chip Awards

29 January 2018

We’re delighted to announce that at the finals of the 2018 National Fish and Chips Awards, Towngate Fisheries and owner Mark Drummond were winners of two prestigious awards.

The first award was the ‘NFFF Quality Award ‘Champion Award’’. This Award was created as an extension to the National Federation of Fish Friers quality accreditation scheme – a rigorous industry benchmark. Only businesses already holding a NFFF Quality Award can enter this category. Towngate Fisheries have continuously help the NFFF Fish and Chip Quality Award for 12 years and are the only shop in West Yorkshire to have held it for so long. The second Award for Outstanding Acheivement was awarded to Towngate’s owner, Mark Drummond. This award recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution to the fish and chip industry and has been instrumental in advancing the industry through innovation, modernisation or simple perspiration! This is the second award of this type Mark has won after winning the Contribution to the Takeaway Industry Award at the British Takeaway Awards a few months ago.

The awards were presented to Towngate’s owner Mark Drummond and some of the Towngate team by Nigel Barden, Radio 2’s food and drink expert, at the glittering ceremony in London.

We were also a finalist in the ‘From Field To Frier Award’ category but narrowly missed out to Mister C’s in Selby.
