Towngate Fisheries sponsor transatlantic rowing race team

In 2019 two Towngate Fisheries customers, Chris and James from Idle, will be braving the elements and rowing more than 3000 nautical miles from La Gomera, Canary Islands to Antigua, Caribbean as part of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge, ‘The worlds toughest row’. 

To put their epic journey into perspective, more people have been into space, than have rowed the Atlantic! The pair are taking part in the challenge in aid of two charities – CentrePoint, combating youth homelessness, and BHC Neonatal Unit, caring for premature and sick babies.

Chris and James are not seasoned ocean goers but it has been James's lifelong dream to take part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, since he watched competitors cross the finish line as a child. And he managed to convince Chris to join him when the pair went on a mountain biking holiday in Canada.
